Artist Statement

When creating Mixed Media Paintings, I will see a tree that catches my eye, it has a personality. I take pictures from all angles and close up.

I start with the background and paint the bones of the tree and then it starts to play with me! I then do a small sketch of the embellishments! I may use molding paste for depth, fuse glass in the kiln or fire up the torch, grab a glass rod and play!

When I was a kid I was always in the trees, they have a hidden heartbeat. The pulses are actually the tree pumping and distributing water around its body, just like the heart pumps blood. They turn Co2 into Oxygen that benefits us! Trees also store carbon dioxide in their fibers helping to clean the air.
